Emma Schillinger portraitTherapeutic Style: My theoretical style is eclectic, integrating tools and skills from motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and psychodynamic processes. As a behavioral health provider, I assist students in addressing concerns associated with sleep, substance use and mood disturbances through short-term, skill-based intervention.

Professional Interests: My professional clinical interests include integrated behavioral health intervention for a variety of mental health concerns including mood disturbances, sleep disturbances, emotion dysregulation and interpersonal difficulties. My research interests surround high-risk substance use and associated consequences among young adults.

Group and Liaison Roles: I co-facilitate the DBT counseling group.

Educational Background: I obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Michigan and a master of science degree in clinical psychology from Syracuse University. I am currently in my 4th year of training as a clinical psychology doctoral student at Syracuse University.
