Therapeutic Style: I primarily apply theory and interventions from the cognitive-behavioral framework and also integrate ideas from relational approaches to strive to be open and understanding towards students’ feelings, opinions and worldviews, especially for those who tend not to receive much from others. Committed to the student-centered perspective, I believe my students are experts in their own lives and have the potential to resolve temporary difficulties through self-autonomy and efficacy. My students and I collaborate to tailor treatment models to each student’s situation flexibly, which further promotes positive changes toward their goals through empowerment.
Professional Interests: My areas of clinical interest include interpersonal relationships and dynamics, identity development, adjustment and transition, depression, anxiety and trauma. I am passionate about working with students from diverse backgrounds, including non-traditional students, graduate students and international students. Before joining the Barnes Center Counseling team, I had worked in various settings, including hospitals, community clinics and college counseling centers, which exposed me to a wide range of clinical presentations.
Educational Background: I earned bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and psychology from the University of Washington. I am currently working toward a doctoral degree in clinical psychology at the Antioch University Seattle PsyD program, from which I hold a master’s degree.
