Title: Physician
How I Support Student Health and Wellness: I provide health care to students at the Barnes Center at The Arch and through my role as team physician in the Syracuse University Department of Athletics and for Competitive Club Sports. I am a resource and support for the providers here at the Barnes Center and to the athletic trainers in Club Sports and Athletics.
Professional Interests: I love working with young adult patients and helping them negotiate the healthcare system on their own, often for the first time. My interests include gynecology and contraceptive procedures, sexual health, sports medicine, infectious disease and the effects of mental health on physical wellness.
Educational Background: I completed a B.S. in biology with a concentration in Irish studies at Fordham University and Ulster University in Coleraine, Ireland. I completed a year of neuroanatomy research in a lab at Weill Cornell Medicine before moving to Syracuse to attend SUNY Upstate Medical University for my MD degree. I completed my residency in family medicine at St. Joseph’s Family Medicine Residency here in Syracuse and was a residency faculty member there for 11 years prior to joining the Barnes Center staff in 2017. I have taken care of the student-athletes in Athletics here at the University since 2008 and continue to do so today.
Hobbies and Interests Outside of Work: I have three fantastic children living in Scotland, New York City (Syracuse University Class of ’24 graduate) and Florida. We love to visit family overseas and travel in the U.S. and Europe whenever possible. I love to cook, garden and entertain friends and family. My husband and I enjoy trying new restaurants, attending concerts and renovating homes together.
