Title: Family Nurse Practitioner
How I Support Student Health and Wellness: I am a medical provider at the Barnes Center at The Arch, where I provide comprehensive care to students including preventive services (physicals and reproductive health), acute illness management and injury treatment. I am deeply passionate about collegiate health, finding it uniquely fulfilling as it enables me to integrate pediatric and adult medicine with sexual health care while supporting students during this important transition in their lives.
Professional Interests: My professional interests include infectious diseases and sexual and reproductive health. I recognize the vital connection between mental and physical health, and while the Barnes Center has dedicated mental health providers, I integrate this holistic perspective into my approach to patient care.
Educational Background: A Texas native, I earned a bachelor of science degree in biology with a minor in health from the University of Texas at San Antonio before continuing my nursing education at SUNY Upstate Medical University, where I completed a master of science in nursing in 2013. My health care career began in emergency medical services as a paramedic before transitioning to nursing. Prior to joining Syracuse University, I served as a nurse practitioner in family practice.
Hobbies and Interests Outside of Work: When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, including our rescue dogs and cats. My husband and I have two active children who keep us busy with their various activities.
