Reservable Spaces

Student Engagement manages areas for use by University offices and Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) for meetings, conferences, receptions and other events. Depending on the type of event and the space requested, the room setup can be changed. To reserve a meeting or conference room or event space, please submit a request through the 25Live reservation platform. Fees may apply for spaces and services.

Schine Student Center Meeting and Conference Rooms

These rooms are considered flexible spaces. The capacity will be based on the room setup.

The Goldstein Auditorium is Schine Student Center’s main multipurpose space. The auditorium hosts a wide variety of shows, banquets, dances, meetings, conferences and concerts each year. Some features include:

  • Capacity: Up to 1,500 seated or standing, 850 for dance parties and 490 for banquets.
    • Capacity based on type of event and room setup.

The Underground is Syracuse University’s nightclub-esque performance space, with a full in-house sound and lighting system. The open space design allows for events ranging from meetings, conferences, banquets and lectures, to multicultural shows, dance parties, performances and concerts.

The Atrium is generally not a reservable space, but occasionally will be used for major University events such as Admissions events and Orange Central. Contact Student Engagement for more information.

Goldstein Student Center

This room is considered a flexible space. The capacity will be based on the room setup.

Skybarn

The Skybarn is located at 151 Farm Acre Road on South Campus. It contains a multi-purpose space with a hard wood floor that is used for dances, dinners, meetings, movies and small concerts.

Registrar Classrooms

Student Engagement receives and processes all non-academic related requests to use Registrar spaces. Examples of Registrar spaces include: 500 Hall of Languages, Grant Auditorium, HBC Gifford, Life Sciences Building 001 and classrooms. Please use the LEMP Classroom Resource Guide to view the available spaces, photos and lists of equipment in each room.

Please note, capacity will be based on the room setup.

Room availability is based on building hours set by each academic building.

  • Academic classes receive priority.
  • Rooms are as is—no additional furniture can be added.
  • Noise must be kept to a minimum during administrative office and class hours (Monday-Thursday: 8 a.m.-10 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. -6 p.m.)
  • Room users are responsible for the setup and breakdown of furniture.
  • 500 Hall of Languages requires a one-hour setup time.

Return the room to original setup prior to leaving the room.

  • Student Engagement reserves the right to reassign space in order to accommodate a different or larger group.
  • It is the sponsor’s responsibility to pay for any damages incurred in room(s) that have been reserved.
  • Food is not permitted in Registrar classrooms unless it is provided by Campus Catering.

Outdoor Spaces

The following outdoor spaces are available for a variety of reservation types, including outdoor events, lawn signs and chalking. To make a reservation, please complete the Outdoor Event Request form.

The Kenneth A. Shaw Quadrangle, the “Quad,” is defined as the grassy area bounded by sidewalks, surrounded by Hendricks Chapel, Link Hall, Carney Library, Hinds Hall and Huntington Beard Crouse Hall. This Quad is available for reservation by a Syracuse University administrative or academic department or a Recognized Student Organization (RSO). Please review the guidelines and expectations contained within the Events on University Property before submitting a reservation request.

Chalking is permitted only by Syracuse University Students, faculty, and staff through academic or administrative departments or by Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs) as outlined in the Campus Posting Policy.

This Einhorn Family Walk is available for reservation by a Syracuse University administrative or academic department or a Recognized Student Organization (RSO). Please review the guidelines and expectations contained within the Events on University Property before submitting a reservation request.

Lawn sign reservations can be made for the Quad, Einhorn Family Walk and Grassy Knoll (two areas of grass between the Schine Student Center and Newhouse School). The reservations may be made in non-consecutive, one-week blocks (Monday – Sunday).

Recognized Student Organizations or University departments may not make reservations on behalf of any other formal or informal group, club or company; nor, may reservations be made for purposes not consistent with the purposes and constitution of the reserving organization or department.

Lawn Sign Policies and Procedures

The purpose of lawn signs along the Quad and Einhorn Family Walk walkways or on the Grassy Knoll are to display or promote meetings, Recognized Student Organization membership, or campus events. Syracuse University departments may display lawn signs that promote the resources and events they offer to students, faculty and staff.

As such, the following are requirements regarding lawn signs:

  • Student Engagement does not provide stakes or signs for the reservation; sponsoring organizations must provide.
  • Placement for the lawn signs are based on the email confirmation you received and are to be located:
    • On the Quad, signs should be placed on the lawn close to the sidewalks as possible. Signs are not permitted under any of the tents on the Quad.
    • On the Einhorn Family Walk, signs should be placed on lawn areas close to the sidewalks. Signs are not permitted in any flower beds or flower pots.
    • On the Grassy Knoll, your email confirmation will specify the upper or lower grassy knoll. Signs should be placed in the grassy area located between the Schine Student Center and Newhouse School. The upper knoll is on the portion closest to the Einhorn Family Walk and the lower knoll portion is closest to Waverly Ave.
  • Signs already placed on the Quad, Einhorn Family Walk, and Grassy Knoll are to be left in place.
  • When placing lawn signs, please be respectful of classes, meetings or events occurring in the surrounding area.
  • The lawn signs must be removed by the end of the day on the last date of the reservation.
  • All Recognized Student Organization lawn signs must be approved through Student Engagement prior to the reservation dates.
  • The Recognized Student Organization’s name, as it appears in ‘Cuse Activities, or the department’s name must be clearly displayed on the lawn sign.
  • If promoting a meeting or event, the date and time must be clearly displayed on the lawn sign.
  • The content of the lawn sign must adhere to the Campus Posting Policy.
  • If a lawn sign falls apart, comes loose or falls over it will be removed.
  • Student Engagement is not responsible for stolen or damaged lawn signs.
  • Student Engagement has the right to deny space for lawn signs.
  • Failure to abide by these guidelines will result in the loss of lawn sign privileges for the semester.
