Schine Student Center

Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center

The Hildegarde and J. Myer Schine Student Center is the hub of activity at Syracuse University. Dedicated in 1985, the Schine Student Center was designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes as a three-level building with four wings that pinwheel off a central atrium covered by a lantern-shaped glass roof. The Schine Student Center houses the 1,500-seat Goldstein Auditorium, multiple small and medium-sized event spaces, Schine Dining Center, campus store, meeting rooms, lounges, and offices.

In May 2019, renovations began to transform the Schine Student Center to fulfill its original mission as the “living room” of campus – a place for students to eat, gather, study and lounge. Based on robust outreach efforts and student feedback, the renovated Schine Student Center features an opened, vibrant central atrium, upgraded dining experience, enhanced accessibility, centralized spaces for student activities, including the co-location of the University’s cultural centers to further promote and celebrate inclusion and intersectionality, and versatile spaces and seating to support student organization activities, studying, group meetings or lounging.
