The Student Access Fund enables all students to have a complete student experience while at Syracuse University through small grants that cover program fees and expenses.
What can funds be used for?
- To cover fees and expenses related to Student Experience clubs, events, or programs.
- Examples include fees associated with:
- Orange After Dark Off-Campus Events
- Outdoor Adventure Day Trips
- Ski and Snowboarding Programs
- Sports Clubs
- Student Organization Activities
- Ticketed Speakers and Performances
- Emergency Aid is provided from a different fund and can be requested through Student Outreach and Support. Emergency Aid requests may cover:
- Emergency Medical Care
- Safety Needs (e.g., changing a lock)
- Basic needs due to loss from fire, theft or natural disaster
- Emergency Travel
Who is eligible to receive funds?
Currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students in a degree-granting program at Syracuse University who have demonstrated financial need. Eligibility will be determined by the Dean of Students in consultation with the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarship Programs. The decision of the Dean of Students in final and not subject to further review.
How are funds distributed?
Requests for funds are determined and distributed on a first come, first served basis. Once approved, funds will be distributed directly to the organization/unit hosting the event. Money will not be distributed directly to students applying for funds, although a student approved funds will be notified of the decision and the amount being distributed.
What other funds are available to students?
- Emergency Aid is provided from a different fund and can be requested through Student Outreach and Support. Emergency Aid requests may cover:
- Emergency Medical Care
- Safety Needs (e.g., changing a lock)
- Basic needs due to loss from fire, theft or natural disaster
- Emergency Travel
- The Student Opportunity Fund is provided through Hendricks Chapel to help cover the financial gap for students having difficulty covering their basic needs and unanticipated costs including:
- Food
- Clothing
- Emergency Travel
- Emergency Health Care Expenses
- And other nonacademic expenses
- The Internship Funding Award is provided through Central Career Services to help financially support the cost of credit for students when required by a company, and/or to provide support for living expenses associated with summer internships.

The following application is live throughout the fall and spring semesters of each academic year and submissions are reviewed on a weekly basis.
