Winter Welcome is Syracuse University’s required orientation program for students new to campus in the spring semester. This includes transfer, first-year and Discovery students new to campus in spring 2024. For questions or to request accommodations, please contact the New Student Programs team.

  • International and Exchange Students may move-in beginning January 11, 2024

Discovery Students

Students returning to campus after spending the fall semester abroad as part of the Discovery program are required to attend Winter Welcome. Discovery students will attend most sessions with the rest of the new students, but will have some Discovery-specific events to support their unique transition to campus. Campus offices will be open during Winter Welcome (January 12-14, 2023) to accommodate the needs of new and returning students.

In the event of severe weather and the University switches to essential staff only, academic advising, and New Student Programs activities will switch to remote services.
