First-Year Students

Your school or college will send an email to your Syracuse University address (@syr.edu) with detailed information about the advising process, any required or optional summer meetings, and next steps.

That email will also include a unique link to a survey you must complete — this link is personal and cannot be shared with other students. Your responses will help your advisor build your fall 2026 schedule. You’ll be asked about:

  • Any major-specific questions or acknowledgments.
  • AP Exams (scores are not required at the time of the survey).
  • Whether you expect to receive college credit, dual enrollment credit, IB, CLEP, or GCE A-Level exam credit.
  • Your intent to participate in programs such as Marching Band, Air Force ROTC, or Army ROTC.
  • Honors eligibility (if applicable).

At the end of the survey, you’ll find contact information if you have questions before submitting.

Some students in specific majors may have an opportunity to self-enroll in courses to ensure they meet full-time status, while others have very strict course structures and progression. Please refer to your academic major for details.

Transfer Students

Transfer students will receive email communication from their home school or college regarding course enrollment. Transfer students are encouraged to connect with their home school or college with questions or concerns using the contact information below.
