Being the first in your family or support system to go to college can be a challenging task. New Student and Family Programs is here to help you define success, pursue your aspirations and reach your goals. We’ve curated a list of helpful resources below, are happy to connect you with campus offices, and ask that you do not hesitate to contact the team if you have questions or concerns. Past Syracuse Welcome and throughout your student experience, our team will continue to share helpful resources and host events to help you build a community.

Prior to Syracuse Welcome, this two-day program is designed to help new first-generation students connect, answer questions and prepare for their academic career. Through interactive presentations and activities, the goal of the ’Cuse First Pre-Welcome Program is to connect first-generation students with the Syracuse University campus and available resources. Explore the Pre-Welcome webpage for more information.

Our student team members are excited to meet you! ’Cuse First Leaders (CFLs) assist in the planning and execution of the ’Cuse First Pre-Welcome Program, designed for incoming first-year and transfer first-generation students. Through small group activities, large-scale programming and mentorship, the CFLs are integral to the success of the ’Cuse First Program!

Many2Come was created to give students that are first-generation a free space where they can express their concerns. Concerns include: workload, or the adaptation from an environment where they were more comfortable and familiar with, for example their high school or their hometown, into a place where they cannot really gain advice from their family members who have no college experience. Once these expressions are made, the organization will work to serve students through panels, workshops, conferences, general body meetings, guest speakers and more, where they can build to the professional aspect of the college experience.

Participants will be able to gain advice from other students and faculty members that can then help navigate them through the resources they weren't aware of before joining the organization. Many2Come supports students in pursuing academic goals, succeeding while in school and preparing for life after graduation. All students of all backgrounds, first-gen or not, are welcome to join Many2Come, helping to make Syracuse University a place of opportunity for everyone, no matter their starting points and/or privileges.

Learn more about and contact Many2Come through 'Cuse Activities, Syracuse University's Recognized Student Organization portal.
