As a special academic ceremony, New Student Convocation marks the opening of the University and the beginning of new students’ careers at Syracuse University.
New Student Convocation
This event is required for all new students. Families and supporters are encouraged to attend in-person or virtually. Additional programming is available for families and supporters until 5 p.m., at which time they are encouraged to leave campus.
- Date: Thursday, August 21, 2025
- Time: Doors open at 8:30 a.m., with the program starting at 10 a.m.
- Location: JMA Wireless Dome
Please note that no food or drink is allowed in the Dome for the ceremony. Brunch will be served on the field from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. following Convocation.
