Required Tasks

Spring 2025 Required Tasks

It is encouraged to complete required tasks as soon as possible. Failure to complete may result in losing the ability to register for classes, additional charges and/or a conduct hold on your student account, hindering studying abroad, participating in Fraternity and Sorority Affairs and more. Students participating in the Discovery program in Fall 2024 should complete the required tasks below unless noted otherwise (i.e. Required for:). Please note: these required tasks are for new students only.

Start Here.

To complete your required tasks, it will be helpful to understand the terminology and tools the University uses.

  • SUID Number: This is a nine digit number located on the top right of the admission notification. This should not be shared with other students.
  • NetID: This is often a first (and maybe middle) initial, all or part of your last name and possibly a number. It is derived automatically from your name based on available NetIDs. Note that no two NetIDs are the same.
  • Password: This is associated with all online portals and platforms requiring a student to access sensitive, personal information. This includes email, patient portal, wellness portal, MySlice and more.
  • Email: Your email is your NetID followed by @syr.edu. Upon matriculation to the University, all communication will be sent to this email, not personal emails. It is a good idea to begin using this email to communicate with all University representatives, offices, professors, advisors and students.

To confirm semester registration, your Bursar student account must be current. This means either paid in full or covered by anticipated financial aid (aid that has been awarded but not disbursed). Accounts on the Monthly Payment Plan are billed monthly and installment payments must be current.

Knowing When a Bill is Ready

An email notification is sent when an electronic bill (e-bill) is created and available to view on MySlice. If you are on the Monthly Payment Plan, you may pay for the semester in monthly installments. Explore the billing and payment schedule on the Accounts and Billing webpage.

Sharing Bill Access

Share My Access is a feature used to set up parents/guardians to receive notifications of e-bills. This allows students to provide their parents/guardians with their own account and password necessary to view financial information online, as well as other University information.

Syracuse University offers students a platinum-rated health insurance plan administered through Aetna Student Health. Each year, all full-time matriculated undergraduate, graduate and law students must enroll in or waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan through their MySlice account. Students within traditionally online degree programs are not eligible to enroll in or waive the Student Health Insurance Plan.

Due: The deadline to enroll into or waive out of the Student Health Insurance Plan is Monday, Feb. 3, 2025.
