LGBTQ Studies Minor

This minor introduces students to the field of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBTQ) Studies. The minor is open and welcoming to all students and offers a sustained opportunity to learn about LGBTQ+ experience, history and scholarship, as well as explore fundamental questions about sexualities, bodies, identities, communities, social movements, and liberation politics.

As an interdisciplinary field, LGBTQ Studies critically examine the significance of sexuality and gender identity to social organization, cultural production, and historical change from a wide range of academic disciplines. The flexibility of the minor curriculum allows students to focus their studies in a particular area of interest, intersect with their major(s), or explore a diverse array of topics across different cultures and historical periods. The minor also offers a range of courses through SU Abroad programs.
