Welcome to spring! Well, not so much spring in Syracuse, but a fresh start and a new semester. Similarly, we’re going to start anew too.
First, I want to let you know that Parent and Family Services will use this blog to communicate with you on a regular basis. We’ve stopped sending our e-newsletter to further support crucial COVID-19 communications. Please keep watching your e-mail and visit the Syracuse University Stay Safe website for important University updates and resources. For information about your student’s experience, we hope to post here once or twice per month.
Schine Student Center Opens
As many of you know, the transformed Schine Student Center recently re-opened and is receiving rave reviews. Having worked in the building for over 17 years prior to the renovations, I can tell you that it is stunning. Students truly come first in this building—it is bright and inviting, offers plenty of space for students to study and hangout (supportive of public health guidelines), and is attentive to details like campus history and traditions.
Resource Highlights
I would like to highlight important resources as we move forward with this semester. Please share these with your student as they look for information about staying connected, becoming engaged in the campus community and seeking support.
- University Community Calendar: Please continue to remind your student to check here for a wide variety of virtual and in-person programs and events. This is a centralized spot for campus-wide information.
- Be Involved Checklist: Students can build their unique Syracuse University experience by reviewing this list of opportunities to become engaged in the campus community.
- Center for Learning and Student Success (CLASS): CLASS offers academic coaching, tutoring and many other resources to help students succeed.

- Virtual Office Hours and Small Group Discussion
Join Parent and Family Services for an opportunity to meet other Syracuse family members, learn about campus resources and explore trending topics. Sessions are limited to 10 participants and a Zoom link will be sent to your email the morning of your session.
