Early Decision

Congratulations on being an “Early Decision” student! We know you are probably eager to learn more about next steps. We have created an Early Decision Frequently Asked Questions list that includes concerns commonly brought up by new students. During your Becoming Orange journey, we hope this helps you plan as you prepare to transition to Syracuse University!

Prior to Welcome Week, all students, families and supporters are invited to visit campus.

As part of a student’s required tasks, please visit the Required Tasks webpage  after May 1 to learn more and for additional directions.

Yes, a complete list and directions are available on the Required Tasks webpage. Please note that Required Tasks may not be available for Early Decision students to submit, but it will be a great idea to proactively take care of the tasks this spring so you simply upload the forms and documentation when it becomes available to you.

We strongly encourage family members and supporters to participate in Family Orientation. Please note, this is not a requirement. More details will be available after May 1.

Learn more about the class registration process, placement exams and more on the Course Enrollment webpage after May 1.

  • From residence hall assignments, roommate selection, Living Learning Communities (LLCs), to shipping and more, find details on the On-Campus Living webpage.
  • Housing application for new students arriving in August 2025 will be available by early 2025.

  • Move-in details can be found on the Moving In webpage, and then selecting which living situation is appropriate.
  • Students will receive their move-in date/time block once housing announcements are made during Summer 2025.
  • It is strongly encouraged that families make travel arrangements after a move-in date/time is determined.

Welcome Week is  scheduled for Aug. 21-24, 2025.

Explore a checklist and more on the New Student Checklists webpage.

  • Required for first-year students, we encourage students to explore the available meal plan options. Please visit the Housing, Meal Plan, and I.D. Card Services website for more information about packages and to get an idea of what could be offered.
  • Please note, meal plans are subject to change annually.
  • Pending deadlines, students may also decide to change meal plans during the semester. Students may always increase the meal plan size, but there is a deadline in the beginning of the academic year to decrease the meal plan size.

As part of a student’s required tasks, please visit the Required Tasks webpage  after May 1 to learn more and for additional directions.

This six-week, in-person residential program begins prior to the start of the fall semester. By participating, students will begin earning degree credits, build campus community connections, gain confidence in academic and social expectations, receive personalized support and more. Visit the SummerStart webpage for more information and application instructions.

While families are invited to campus throughout the semester to visit their students, families are also invited to attend Family Weekend. Taking place each fall, Parent and Family Services plans a full schedule of events for students, parents, families and supporters to connect, attend social events and more. Visit the Orange Family Connection Portal to learn more.

Family Weekend is TBD for 2025.
