Activated your NetID and Password: Available on the top right of your admission notification, please use your SUID number to activate your NetID and password today!
After Arriving in the U.S.
CHECK-IN:
Step 1: Save electronic copies of your immigration documents
You will need to upload electronic copies of your immigration documents when completing your international student check-in request (step 3).
- Save electronic copies of your:
- Passport biodata page
- Most recent U.S. visa (Citizens of Canada and Bermuda should upload a copy of the most recent U.S. entry stamp in your passport if you do not have a U.S. visa.)
- DS-2019, if not issued by Syracuse University
- F2 or J2 dependents' passports and visas (if any)
- Retrieve your I-94 Arrival Record (not Travel History) and save an electronic copy. If no I-94 Arrival Record is found, save an electronic copy of the "No record found for traveler" search result.
- Return to this page and complete the remaining steps
Step 2: Update MySlice Personal Profile Information
Using your NetID and password, log in to MySlice and update the following information under “My Profile:”
- Add the U.S. address where you will be living this semester in the "Current" address type, unless you are living on campus. On-campus addresses will be added to MySlice by the Office of Student Living.
- Add your U.S. cell phone number as a preferred number.
- Add emergency contacts in your home country and in the U.S., if any.
Step 3: Complete the Check-In Request in MySlice
Complete the Check-In Request in the International Student/Scholar Portal in MySlice

- Log in to MySlice using your SU NetID and password.
- On your “Student Home” page, select the “International Student/Scholar” tile.
- Go to the Student Request Center at the top right of the page, click on the "Check-In" button and follow the instructions for completing the check-in process.
- Click Next to move through the Check-In request and click Submit to submit your request after you have completed the questionnaire and uploaded copies of your documents.
Step 4: Attend an Immigration Essentials Session
SPRING 2025
All international students must attend one Immigration Overview Session after completing the electronic Check-In.
