Volunteer Opportunities

Syracuse University faculty and staff should explore the volunteer opportunities for Syracuse Welcome 2022 and Family Weekend 2022 below!

Move-In Volunteers support new student move-in by greeting new students, their families and supporters. They serve as a staff contact outside each first-year residence hall, addressing concerns and giving direction to student volunteers as needed. New Student and Family Programs is seeking positive and engaging individuals to volunteer in this role.

Due: Monday, Aug. 15, 2022.

Eligibility: Any faculty or staff member at Syracuse University.

Move-In Captains support new student move-in by greeting new students, their families and supporters. They serve as the main staff contact outside each first-year residence hall, addressing concerns and giving direction to Orientation Leaders as needed. Move-In Captains also ensure that volunteers understand the flow of traffic, logistics outside the building and connect with parking staff and DPS.

Eligibility: Any faculty or staff member at Syracuse University that has volunteered for new student move-in at least once.

Citrus in the City Volunteers support the event in Clinton Square held on Saturday evening during Syracuse Welcome. These volunteers help with line management, wristband distribution, serve as the main contact during pick-up and drop-off and more. New Student and Family Programs is seeking positive and engaging individuals to volunteer in this role.

Volunteers at the Family Weekend Welcome and Registration Center support new Family Weekend by greeting parents, families and supporters of students. Volunteers may also be responsible for check-in, souvenir distribution, way-finding and more.

Eligibility: Any faculty or staff member at Syracuse University.

Volunteers helping with signage support Family Weekend by ensuring accurate inventory of signs at major programs, changing the content of each sign and setting up/collecting the signs at the start/end of programs.
