Syracuse University faculty and staff should explore the volunteer opportunities for Welcome Week 2026 below!

Move-In Captains support New Student Move-In by serving as a main point of contact outside each assigned residence hall. Move-In Captains greet new students as well as their families and supporters, and address concerns while working with the Welcome Week Leaders (WWLs). Move-In Captains also interact with Residential Living staff, Parking and Transportation Services and the Department of Public Safety to ensure an efficient move-in process. Only Syracuse University faculty or staff that have previously volunteered for New Student Move-In are eligible for this role.

Move-In Volunteers support New Student Move-In by welcoming new students, families, and supporters to the residence halls. Volunteers in this role help manage move-in lines outside the halls, answer questions and provide directions to campus locations as needed. New Student Programs is seeking positive, welcoming, and engaging Syracuse University faculty and staff members to serve in this volunteer role.

Citrus in the City Volunteers support the annual food festival downtown in Clinton Square. Volunteers help manage lines, distribute wristbands and collect wristband tabs from new students for food and drink samples from vendors. Volunteers will receive a wristband to sample food and drinks prior to the start of the event.
