Spring 2024 Information
Student Living (SL) and Housing, Meal Plan, and I.D. Card Services (Housing) thank you for staying with us during the 2023-2024 academic year and wish you a safe and enjoyable summer!
All residential students are expected to depart campus within 24 hours after their last final. As finals end on May 7, 2024, all residential students should vacate their on-campus residence on May 8, 2024, unless they have approval to stay late.
Students living in the Sheraton Hotel must depart by 12 noon, May 8, 2024.
Students who have a legitimate reason to be on-campus longer than 24 hours after their last final may submit a Stay Late Request. Submission of a Stay Late Request does not guarantee approval. All requests will be reviewed and students will be notified via their SYR.EDU email of the decision. Graduating seniors must also submit this request if they intend to remain to participate in graduation and commencement ceremonies. The Stay Late Request form is live until May 3, 2024.
For students approved to stay late, all campus residence halls close no later than 6 p.m., May 12, 2024, for students approved to stay late.
Departure Information
Before departing, there are a few steps you need to take in order to have a smooth checkout process. Please review the following information.
Step 1: If you have not done so already, contact your instructors to learn your finals schedule.
Step 2: Select an anticipated checkout time on the MySlice Housing Portal.
Step 3: If you have a legitimate reason to stay later than 24 hours after your last final, you may make a Stay Late Request online. If you choose to use a different vendor, you are responsible for bringing your belongings to the vendor outside the building.

- Deposit all trash and perishables in the proper receptacles in the trash and recycling rooms/dumpsters.
- Remove ALL personal belongings. Double-check all drawers, closets, and under furniture to ensure all personal items have been removed. Per the Terms and Conditions of Housing, students are responsible for removing all personal property prior to vacating the housing unit. “If the student fails to do so, the University shall have the right to immediately re-enter the housing unit and remove all personal belongings therein, without liability for trespass and without liability for any loss or damage caused by re-entry and/or removal.“ Any items left in your room/apartment after you depart will be considered abandoned.

If you have installed an e-sim or physical sim card on your phone to access the Juice Network (JMA 5G private wireless network) and/or have picked up your laptop dongle, please review the following information regarding what to do with your sim and dongle.
E-sim/Sim Card for Phones
Returning Students:
If you have installed a Juice Network (JMA 5G private wireless network) e-sim or physical sim card on your phone and will be returning to Syracuse University in the fall, you can keep the sim/e-sim installed on your phone. When you return to campus in the fall, you will be able to connect to the Juice Network. If you accidentally delete the sim during the summer or get a new phone, you will be able to use the self-serve tool or contact ITS for support in re-adding the network to your phone upon your return.
The network can stay on a phone when the student is off campus as happens during a school break so the student should feel safe leaving it on their phone over Summer. However, if a student needs to re-add upon return to campus then they can use the helpful self-serve tool or contact ITS for support re-adding the network (e.g. new phone purchased, etc.)
Not Returning/Transferring/Graduating Students:
The Juice Network is only available within specific spaces on campus. If you will not be returning to Syracuse University in the fall, the network and sim card/e-sim can be removed from your phone after you depart. If you need assistance on how to remove the Juice Network from your phone, please contact ITS for assistance.
Laptop Dongles
Returning Students:
Returning students should keep their Juice Network dongles for use when you return to campus in the fall. However, if you do happen to misplace it over the summer, contact ITS when you return for support.
Not Returning/Transferring/Graduating Students:
The Juice Network is only available within specific spaces on campus. If you will not be returning to Syracuse University in the fall, the dongle can be returned by dropping it off at the ITS Service Center during staffed hours.
All Sheraton students must depart no later than 12 Noon, May 8, 2024. Any requests to stay beyond that time that are approved will require the student to relocate to another location on-campus as assigned by the Housing Office. Requests to stay later than May 8, 2024, are to be made using the Stay Late Request form (available online in early April).

Residential Move-out FAQ
You may leave for summer as soon as your academic requirements are complete. If you depart when classes/finals are in session, your academic progress may be impacted. Please consult your instructors for information regarding any intended absence from in-person instruction and/or examination(s). When you do depart campus, please ensure that you follow the instructions outlined on this page.
Syracuse University’s residential facilities remain open through the end of spring semester. Departing early is a personal choice. You are responsible for all housing-related charges through the end spring semester.
Residence hall students may pick up another envelope at their hall’s main desk.
For South Campus apartment students, envelopes are available at the South Campus Housing Office, Goldstein Student Center, Room 210, or in the dropbox located outside the building.
Summer housing is different than academic year housing. It is likely that you will need to vacate your spring assignment and move to a different room/residence hall. Housing for summer is not automatic and you must apply for summer housing. Once you have applied, the Housing Office will provide you with your summer room assignment.
There is no University-provided moving assistance. You will need to seek external transportation for your belongings.
Summer Session I begins on May 20, 2024. If you have applied for and received on-campus housing for the session, you will be able to move-in on May 19. If you have concerns regarding housing during the interim week between commencement and the start of summer session I, please contact Housing at housing@syr.edu or 315.443.2721.
If you prefer to store your belongings, you are encouraged to explore short-term storage options with Lazybones. View pricing for summer storage.
