Spring 2026 Information

Residential Living and Housing, Meal Plan, and I.D. Card Services (Housing) thank you for staying with us during the 2025-2026 academic year and wish you a safe and enjoyable summer!

All residential students are expected to depart campus within 24 hours after their last final. As finals end on May 5, 2026, all residential students should vacate their on-campus residence on May 6, 2026, unless they have approval to stay late.

Students who have a legitimate reason to be on-campus longer than 24 hours after their last final need to submit a Stay Late Request. Submission of a Stay Late Request does not guarantee approval.  All requests will be reviewed and students will be notified via their SYR.EDU email of the decision. Graduating seniors will also need to submit this request if they intended to remain to participate in graduation and commencement ceremonies. The Stay Late Request form will be available to complete online in April . If you complete a Stay Late Request form, you should receive a decision sent to your SYR email no later than 10 a.m., April 30.

Please note the following information regarding the Request to Stay Late process:

  • Graduating seniors and siblings of graduating seniors who submit a Request to Stay Late will be approved to remain in their campus residence until 12 noon, May 11, 2026 (the day after Commencement).
  • Students working on-campus through Commencement ceremonies who submit a Request to Stay Late will be approved to remain in their campus residence until 6 p.m., May 10, 2026.
  • Any student who needs to stay in their campus residence beyond 24 hours after their last final will need to submit a Stay Late Request.

If you complete a Stay Late Request form, you should receive a decision sent to your SYR email no later than 10 a.m., April 30.

Residential Move-out FAQ

You may leave for summer as soon as your academic requirements are complete. If you depart when classes/finals are in session, your academic progress may be impacted. Please consult your instructors for information regarding any intended absence from in-person instruction and/or examination(s). When you do depart campus, please ensure that you follow the instructions outlined on this page.

Syracuse University’s residential facilities remain open through the end of spring semester. Departing early is a personal choice. You are responsible for all housing-related charges through the end spring semester.

Residence hall students may pick up another envelope at their hall’s main desk.

For South Campus apartment students, envelopes are available at the South Campus Housing Office, Goldstein Student Center, Room 210, or in the dropbox located outside the building.

Summer housing is different than academic year housing. It is likely that you will need to vacate your spring assignment and move to a different room/residence hall. Housing for summer is not automatic and you must apply for summer housing. Once you have applied, the Housing Office will provide you with your summer room assignment.

There is no University-provided moving assistance. You will need to seek external transportation for your belongings.

Absolutely! We would be happy to answer your questions.

Students may either rent a microwave through Microfridge (as their products contain the required detection and shutdown system) or bring their own, provided it meets this requirement.
