Have you ever scrolled on TikTok or Instagram and thought, “It would be so cool to be an influencer?” Well, now is your chance! Syracuse University’s Student Experience Communications team is hiring student interns next year who will collaborate and bring the Student Experience Division’s social media presence to the next level.
Social Media Ambassador
The social media ambassador is going to be the Student Experience’s first influencer-esque position! If you love being in front of the camera and have school spirit, this role is for you! From person-on-the-street interviews to viral pop culture trends related to Syracuse, we’re looking for someone who’s got the creative juices to make @MySUExperience and other divisional Instagram accounts pop. We need someone who can be the face of our social media and help brainstorm content ideas, as well as assist with the editing and production side of content creation.
This role will give you tons of skills that are transferable to other jobs in social media and digital content production. Journalists and influencers alike are building their brand and image through social media, making this an important time to enter the field. Influencers Jake Shane and Brittany Broski have hosted red carpet interviews, and Alex Cooper has hosted hundreds of huge figures and celebrities on her podcast. Many others in the communications field are using social media to their advantage to promote their content and skills.
If you’re looking for a career in communications, whether it be film, journalism, public relations or advertising, this is a great stepping stone for these roles! No matter what field you pursue, this job will provide you with social media skills that will apply to all career fields.
Digital Content Intern
If you love social media and digital content but are looking for a more writing-based role, this is for you. Our digital content interns pitch and write all of our stories for The Peel. Whether it’s events happening on campus or lifestyle content related to students, our newsletter is centered around the fun of being a student at Syracuse! Digital content interns also help with social media by pitching and producing content.
If you’re someone who’s always wanted a Substack or blog about college life, this position is perfect for you! Digital content interns will learn strong writing skills and how to keep readers engaged and excited. Additionally, you’ll learn social media production skills and ways to promote The Peel via our socials. These interns may also assist with other writing-based digital content, like press releases, as needed.
We need interns with lots of creative ideas looking to inform and excite your fellow students about campus life. If you love all things digital communications and/or want to learn more about this career path, this position is for you!
Both positions require creative and eager minds ready to produce unique and engaging content made by students, for students. Applications for each role will be posted on Handshake. If you are interested in applying, please email Student Experience Communications director Gabrielle Lake for more information.
