Student Retreats

In support of student-focused leadership growth and professional development opportunities, Student Living hosts a variety of free student retreats throughout the academic year. Check out the opportunities below for more information!

The Inspire Student Leadership Retreat is focused on student leadership and campus community engagement. Participants will engage with campus leaders and their peers to learn about their own leadership style and ways to engage as a leader within our campus community. All residential students and student leaders are encouraged to register.

The free Fall 2022 Inspire Retreat will be hosted Sunday, Oct. 23, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Embassy Suites and Destiny USA. All transportation, meals and time at an Escape Room are provided.

  • The Registration Form is now open and will close Sunday, Oct. 9,  11:59 p.m.
  • Space will be limited, so register early!

23rd Annual Students of Color Leadership Retreat

The free and all-inclusive, Students of Color (SOC) Leadership Retreat is an off-campus, overnight event, giving Students of Color the opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions, self-reflection and gain an understand of how to “Ignite as Leaders.”

  • Departure: Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, 4 p.m.
  • Retreat Location: White Eagle Conference Center in Hamilton, N.Y. (About an hour away.)
  • Roundtrip Transportation: Free buses will transport students roundtrip.
  • Lodging: Free for two nights.
  • Meals: All meals throughout the retreat will be provided at no cost.
  • Return: Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, 2:30 p.m.

Applying to Attend

The SOC Leadership Retreat is open to 60 students who self-identify as  Students of Color and/or students from a marginalized race/ethnic group.   

  • Deadline: Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, 11:59 p.m.
  • Details:  Although you will meet new people at the retreat, we encourage you to go with your friends and Registered Student Organizations (RSOs).
  • Application Form: Interested students are asked to complete the Application Form. Applications will be reviewed and 60 students will be selected to attend.

The annual International Student Leadership Retreat is an overnight retreat that gives international students the opportunity to participate in meaningful discussions, reflect on their experiences in American culture, and learn ways to connect and engage. The retreat empowers international students to create meaningful exchanges with themselves and others at Syracuse University.  

The 2021 International Student Leadership Retreat was held on Friday, November 19th – Saturday, November 20th at White Eagle Banquet and Conference Center.
