Fun costumes, chilling ghost stories and fall weather—what’s not to love about Halloween? To help you celebrate and have fun this Halloween, the City of Syracuse and surrounding areas offer a number of spooky and fun events. Here are five off-campus events to help you get in the Halloween spirit and have the perfect Halloweekend!

Abbott Farm’s Pumpkin and Apple Picking

Looking to spend your day having some wholesome fun? Look no further—Abbott Farms has apple picking, a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, a market and lots of fall fun! Abbott Farms is the perfect way to spend your Halloween during the daytime. Abbott’s will be open Oct. 30–Nov. 2, so you can soak in the fall fun all weekend. Check out their website to see the individual hours for apple and pumpkin picking, the farm store, and the cafe and cidery.

Get Spooked at Fright Nights

Looking for some scary, creepy fun to really get into the Halloween spirit? Fright Nights has just what you’re looking for with a number of haunted attractions all in one spooky park! The park offers five different and uniquely creepy experiences: The Monster Movie Matinee, the Devil’s Dungeon Slide to Hell (a crowd favorite), the Burgen Manor, Lady Lamson’s Cursed Voyage and Penny’s Playhouse. The last day for this spooky experience is Halloween, so it’s best to get your tickets soon. Have fun and try not to get nightmares!

Pumpkin Picking and Fall Fun at The Pumpkin Hollow

From animal feeding to hay rides, The Pumpkin Hollow has tons of activities for some daytime fall fun. Open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. every day until Halloween, The Pumpkin Hollow is a great way to spend Halloween Day with friends. Only about an 18-minute drive away from campus, the Pumpkin Hollow is your best bet if you want to soak in some fall fun without going too far from home.

Listen to Local Ghost Stories at the Liverpool Library

Ever wondered what spooky tales and ghost stories haunt Syracuse? Head to Liverpool Public Library’s “Macabre: A Hauntingly Historical Presentation” to find out the local spooky tales that haunt Onondaga County. Presented by the Onondaga Historical Association, you’ll get to hear spooky stories and their historical contexts all in one. This event takes place on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7-8 p.m.—don’t miss this one!

Watch “The Twilight Saga” at Regal Cinema

Looking for some low-key, silly fun that still brings spooky Halloween vibes? Starting Wednesday, Oct. 29, the Regal in Destiny USA is showing all five “Twilight” movies over Halloweekend! Grab your friends, your favorite snacks and binge the blockbuster vampire movie series to get yourself in the Halloween mood. This is the perfect way to have some chill Halloween fun with friends!
