Halloween is creeping up, and campus has a few tricks up its sleeve! Whether you want a study break, are itching to show off your costume or are just looking for an excuse to get out with friends, there are plenty of frights to go around. Here are eight Halloween events on campus worth adventuring out for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There’s more to mummies than ancient curses and Hollywood horror. Stop by the first floor of Bird Library for the Mummy Dearest<\/em> exhibition to explore how preserved remains have shaped our understanding of history and inspired some of pop culture’s creepiest characters. From ancient Egyptian burial practices to movie monsters, this exhibition is sure to leave you with something to unwrap<\/em><\/strong>. Exhibition buttons are available while supplies last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Who says facing your fears has to be scary? The Barnes Center at The Arch<\/a> is turning wellness into a Halloween challenge with Festival of Frights: Face Your Wellness Fears<\/a>. Complete two group fitness classes and one Crowley MindSpa<\/a> appointment, Ask a Personal Trainer<\/a> session or Pet Therapy<\/a> session for a chance to earn prizes. It’s a chance to try something new, get moving and conquer a few wellness fears along the way!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dinner is served, but something suspicious is on the menu! Head to the Underground in the Schine Student Center for a <\/a>Murder Mystery Dinner, where you can watch a murder mystery unfold right before your eyes while enjoying a meal. Come dressed to kill (figuratively, of course!) for a chance to win a costume contest. This free event is open only to undergraduate students, and you need to RSVP through the <\/a>‘Cuse Activities Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Who says Halloween music has to be all screams and sinister sound effects? Head to Hendricks Chapel for a concert featuring the Hendricks Chapel Choir, student organists and the Syracuse University Organ Club. Expect music from your favorite musicals and movies with the dramatic sounds of Toccata and Fugue in D Minor. Costumes are encouraged, but no pressure to dress for the occasion. All are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Things are getting a little bone-chilling at the Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion. There\u2019s trick-or-treating, sweet treats, spooky drinks and plenty of opportunities to show off your scariest costume. Admission and skate rentals are free for Syracuse University and SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) students with a valid student ID card. And remember safety first. Make sure your costume doesn’t trip you up on the ice!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Who says trick-or-treating is just for kids? Campus organizations and partners are bringing trunk-or-treat to the Einhorn Family Walk. This free event is only open to undergraduate students, so bring your Halloween spirit and RSVP through the \u2019Cuse Activities Portal<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Can’t decide between a cozy Halloween afternoon and a full-on fright fest? Belonging and Student Success and the Kessler Scholars Program are hosting two Halloween spectaculars at the Barner-McDuffie House located on 119 Euclid Ave. and the Native Student Program house located on 113 Euclid Ave. Stop by for pumpkin decorating, spooky coloring pages, scary movies, games and a chance to show off your costume. All are welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Take your Halloween costume for a spin at the Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion’s Late Night Ice: Costume Contest! Skate under spooky lights, sing along to classic Halloween hits and compete for a special prize. Admission and skate rentals are free for Syracuse University and SUNY ESF students with a valid student ID card. Come if you dare, but don’t forget your skates!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Halloween calls for a little Orange and a lot of school spirit! The Orange football team takes on SMU, giving fans another reason to trade in Halloween colors for Syracuse Orange. Head to the JMA Wireless Dome to support the team!
