Being a student can get really expensive. Between textbooks, school supplies, and groceries, your bank account might be running low. Luckily, there are many discounts you can use as a Syracuse student! Check out the list below to take full advantage of these opportunities. <\/span><\/p>\n

And don’t forget! Budgeting is key to making sure your dollars go as far as they can. Check out our previous blog on budgeting tips<\/a> to help save yourself even more money!<\/span><\/p>\n

LOCAL TO SYRACUSE:<\/h2>\n

Discounted Regal Cinema Tickets: <\/b>At Schine Box Office, you can pick up a Regal Cinemas Premiere Super Saver ticket<\/a> for only $10! They have no restrictions and never expire! Save some extra cash by skipping the Uber and take the free Friday and Saturday night express\u00a0bus to Destiny USA<\/a>! During the rest of the week, the bus to Destiny<\/a> is only $2 each way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Orange After Dark (OAD): <\/b>The Office of Student Activities<\/a> offers great late night activities<\/a> on weekend nights throughout the semester. Some are completely free and the rest are only $3! Some upcoming events are a night at Apex Entertainment, a Murder Mystery Dinner at Spaghetti Warehouse and a private premiere of Avengers: Endgame at Regal Cinemas in Destiny USA!<\/span><\/p>\n

University Union Cinema Screenings: <\/b>UU has incredible films screening every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in HBC Gifford. Some films this semester have included \u201cIf Beale Street Could Talk,\u201d \u201cMary, Queen of Scotts,\u201d and \u201cBohemian Rhapsody.\u201d Follow UU on\u00a0Facebook<\/a>, Instagram<\/a> and Twitter<\/a> for more info. <\/span><\/p>\n

Orange After Dark Late-Night Movies: <\/b>Every Friday and Saturday, OAD has free movies<\/a> in HBC Gifford starting at 11 p.m. They\u2019re all recent blockbuster hits you won\u2019t want to miss. And did we mention free snacks?! <\/span><\/p>\n

Everson Museum: <\/b>Located in downtown, the Everson Museum of Art<\/a> showcases a wide collection of contemporary and modern American art. With your SUID, you can get in for only $6. <\/span><\/p>\n

Syracuse Stage: <\/b>Just a short way from main campus and a stop on the Connective Corridor, Syracuse Stage<\/a> brings amazing drama and musical theater productions. Student tickets are discounted at $20. There\u2019s still time to see \u201cPride and Prejudice\u201d and the Tony winning \u201cThe Humans.\u201d Tickets to see\u00a0SU Drama<\/a> students perform are even cheaper at $17. Support your classmates in \u201cThe Wild Party\u201d opening March 30. <\/span><\/p>\n

Bookstore: <\/b>A lot of people know about the post-gameday discounts offered at the bookstore<\/a> (if you didn\u2019t, you do now), but did you know you can get 10% off on your birthday? Just show your SUID and proof of your date of birth at checkout!<\/span><\/p>\n

SHOPPING:<\/h2>\n

Countless retailers and websites offer student discounts, you just have to check! Here are some popular ones:<\/span><\/p>\n

UNiDAYS: <\/b>This website offers discounts on an extremely wide range of stores and products, including Apple, Adidas, Uber, GrubHub, Ray-Bans and more. Check out the UNiDAYS<\/a> site to see even more discounts!<\/span><\/p>\n

Amazon Prime Student: <\/b>Did you know you can get a free 6-month trial of Amazon Prime<\/a> with a university email address? After the trial ends, Amazon will offer a half-off rate on Prime to students for as long as they\u2019re enrolled. <\/span><\/p>\n

Another tip:<\/strong> When you\u2019re checking out at a store, ask if they offer a student discount. Some stores, like Topshop, Levi\u2019s, and J. Crew will give one to you at the register!<\/span><\/p>\n

TECH\/ENTERTAINMENT:<\/h2>\n

Apple: <\/b>On Apple\u2019s site or in-store, make sure to check out the Apple Education pricing. You can easily save hundreds on a laptop just by including your student information! You can also head to the CuseTech Computer Center<\/a> in the Bookstore to get the same education discount and great customer service. <\/span><\/p>\n

Microsoft: <\/b>With a university affiliated email, Office 365<\/a> programs like Word, Outlook and Excel are completely free for students. <\/span><\/p>\n

Spotify\/Apple Music: <\/b>Both streaming services offer a discounted rate for students just by using your Syracuse email address! Your student subscription to Spotify also includes Hulu and Showtime streaming subscriptions at no extra cost. Win! <\/span><\/p>\n

NY Times and USA Today: <\/b>If you didn\u2019t have to take COM 107, you might not know there are free copies of the NY Times and USA scattered around campus. Pick up your free copy in Schine, at College Place, and in multiple other buildings. Did you know that you also get a free online subscription to NY Times through the academic pass<\/a>? Stay informed and save some cash!<\/span><\/p>\n
