This year\u2019s theme is \u201cCoraz\u00f3n y Saz\u00f3n: A Blend of Latino Cultures and Communities,\u201d inviting the campus community to learn about the various rich histories, cultures and communities that make up our Latino community. Explore the month\u2019s full calendar of events, and check out these highlights:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.syracuse.edu\/events\/2022-sep-23\/cafe-con-leche-what-is-latinx\/?_ga=2.255689867.2002056648.1662479248-1061334459.1655145926\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caf\u00e9 con Leche: What is Latinx?<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Join Multicultural Affairs this Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month for their Caf\u00e9 con Leche Series. This series allows students, student organizations, programs and departments to engage in conversation with members of the Syracuse community. Discussions will focus on issues affecting Latinos and other racial, ethnic and cultural communities in topics ranging from education, identity and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Come out to the first Caf\u00e9 con Leche discussion series at <a href=\"https:\/\/diversity.syr.edu\/educational-training-programming\/119-euclid\/\">119 Euclid<\/a> on Friday, Sept. 23 from 4-6 p.m. on \u201cWhat is Latinx?\u201d The topic invites our campus community to discuss what it means to be Latinx, what the \u201cx\u201d in Latinx symbolizes and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.syracuse.edu\/events\/2022-sep-24\/torneo-de-futbol-73037\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Torneo de F\u00fatbol<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Multicultural Affairs and the <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/bewell\/\">Barnes Center at The Arch<\/a> are hosting the fourth annual Torneo de F\u00fatbol, a soccer tournament to celebrate Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month. Grab a friend or two and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imleagues.com\/spa\/intramural\/f415211086d84e9a8d06659da4dbf60b\/home\">register via IMLeagues today<\/a>! First 75 players to register get a free T-shirt! The deadline to register for the tournament is Monday, Sept. 19.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.syracuse.edu\/events\/2022-sep-28\/cafe-con-leche-celebrating-the-first-generation-college-student-experience\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Caf\u00e9 con Leche: Celebrating the First-Generation College Student Experience<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Caf\u00e9 con Leche discussion series continues with \u201cCelebrating the First-Generation College Student Experience&#8221; on Wednesday, Sept. 28 from 4-6 p.m. This discussion invites our campus community to engage in a conversation about what it means to be a Latinx\/o\/a\/\u00e9 first-generation college student. Featured speaker Saul Flores will be discussing his experience and facilitating the discussion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Saul Flores (pronounced sah\u2013ool) is a first-generation college student, philanthropist, photojournalist and speaker who is nationally recognized for his social impact projects. Through his most recent project, Saul documents the amazing lives of thousands of Latin American immigrants to fundraise for an elementary school in his mother\u2019s hometown. His work has been featured on NPR, MSNBC and TEDx. Additionally, Saul has been featured as a keynote speaker for dozens of universities, inspiring audiences through his visual presentations in which he helps people realize the capacity of their immense human potential in times of extreme adversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/calendar.syracuse.edu\/events\/2022-oct-13\/latinx-hispanic-heritage-month-and-fourth-annual-lgbtq-history-month-potash-keynote-paola-ramos\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month and LGBTQ+ History Month Potash Keynote<\/span><\/a><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Join Paola Ramos on Thursday, Oct. 13, from 7-8:30 p.m., for the\u00a0 Latinx Hispanic Heritage Month and Fourth Annual LGBTQ+ History Month Potash Keynote! Paola Ramos is an author, Emmy award-winning journalist and Latinx advocate. She is a host for VICE and VICE News, as well as a contributor for MSNBC and Telemundo News.
