It\u2019s a new semester in so many ways! Whether you\u2019re new to the Orange community, new to a fully in-person campus experience, or a seasoned Syracuse pro, it can be overwhelming starting out. To help, we\u2019ve pulled together a few things we think you should know.<\/p>\n
As we continue to manage COVID, it\u2019s crucially important to follow public health guidelines established by the University, Central New York and New York State. The Stay Safe Pledge<\/a> will be your guiding resource throughout the academic year. Make sure to review it, sign it and stick to it. You know the deal: Stay Safe. Stay Healthy. Do Your Part!<\/p>\n The four campus COVID levels and masking framework<\/a> is also crucially important to follow. Understand the different color-coded levels\u2014GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, RED\u2014and their correlating masking requirements. Unvaccinated members of our community must always wear a mask, including outdoors when in the presence of others.<\/p>\n Don\u2019t forget that masks are required for everyone on public transit (including the University shuttles and Centro busses) and when visiting any health care facility (including the Barnes Center health facilities and the Stadium and Kimmel Testing Centers).<\/p>\n Campus feels new to a lot of us now that we\u2019re fully in-person again. To make the transition a little easier, spend some time wandering campus, pinpointing your class locations, and understanding the campus shuttle schedules.<\/p>\n Google maps can honestly be a bust when trying to navigate across campus. For up-to-date maps and more accurate wayfinding, check out the digital maps<\/a> hosted by ITS! Sort by buildings, computer labs, dining options and more. If you\u2019re old school and want a physical map, you can download them off the University’s Campus Map webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n Good news: there\u2019s a lot of campus shuttle routes to get you around very easily. Not so good news: there\u2019s a lot of campus shuttle routes that you can mix up. Take some time to learn where the different routes go and avoid getting on the wrong shuttle! For real-time route information, check out subus.syr.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n Throughout your time on campus, you\u2019re going to come across several portals and platforms. We wrangled the ones you\u2019ll likely use the most:<\/p>\n \u2019Cuse Activities<\/a> is an online portal for all things registered student organizations! You\u2019ll find student orgs, sport clubs, academic-focused groups, Greek life chapters and student-hosted events. Log in with your NetID and password to unlock all its features. You\u2019ll find internship and job postings, professional development resources on-campus employment opportunities through \u2019Cuse Works<\/a>, and upcoming career fairs and events.
