General Family Weekend Information
Other than a football game on Saturday, there are opportunities to meet staff and faculty at school and college welcomes, learn more about available resources and how your student can make connections and feel a sense of belonging on campus. We will also host entertainment/social activities on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Family Weekend has existed for over 70 years. While it is most often associated with a football game, it is also a time to learn more about the campus and the opportunities available to your student! Families of all students are invited to attend–but first year students may be especially eager and ready for family and friends to learn more about their “home away from home.”
If you have a new student on campus this fall, they are probably ready for a visit by this time. They may seem a bit busy and overwhelmed, but they are likely excited to show you about their life on campus.
Family Weekend check-in programs begin as early as 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16. Please review the schedule to best determine your arrival and departure plans.
Family Weekend Travel, Lodging and Logistics
The best place to find information about local lodging is Visit Syracuse.
Students with an Unlimited Meal Plan have an allotment of 10 guest meals for friends and family that may be used in the Residential Dining Centers. Your student must be present with their SUID card for you to use guest meals.
In addition, there are several retail dining options available on campus.
It should be prime leaf-peeping season during Family Weekend 2026!
