Syracuse Welcome Family Orientation

Orientation for new families is over two days. Registration is required.

This program is designed to help you support your new student’s transition to Syracuse University. Join us for a welcome from Allen Groves, Senior Vice President and Chief Student Experience Officer, panel discussion called Expectations and Opportunities led by Sheriah Dixon, Dean of Students. Learn more about the ways in which your student can find connections, leadership opportunities, and learn more about student engagement and traditions in the Pride and Traditions panel. Finally, satisfy your own curiosity with the panel of campus experts in Academic and Personal Success.

Registration for in-person participation is required. Doors open at 8 a.m. and the program begins promptly at 8:15 a.m. This session will be livestreamed.

This program is designed to help you support your new student’s transition to Syracuse University. Join us for a panel discussion about Health and Wellness where you will learn more about the Barnes Center at the Arch’s health and wellness resources and other student support resources. Participate in our discussion called BELONG: Supporting Students in Transition to learn more about the ways in which Parent and Family Services, New Student Programs, Student Outreach and Support and Counseling at the Barnes Center can help you and your student. Finally, learn more from our student experts in the Dear Family/Dear Student session—this includes an opportunity to share a brief letter with your student that will be delivered during the first week of classes.

Growing Oranges: Virtual Series for New Families

Get to know the Parent and Family Services and New Student Programs staff. Learn about who we are, what we do and what you can expect from our offices.

Join staff from the Bursar's Office, Financial Aid and Scholarship Programs and 'Cuse Works (Student Employment) to learn more about paying your bill, payment plans, financial aid and scholarships, federal work-study and financial literacy programs for students.

Connect with other new families at Syracuse University. Families will be assigned to small group breakout rooms during the session. The goal of this session is to introduce families to each other and for them to make connections. Small groups will be hosted by Parent and Family Services staff and Family Orientation and Transition Leaders.
