Student Living welcomes you to your new home at Syracuse University! Living with a roommate at college is a new and exciting experience.
Living with another person, whether you knew them previously or not, requires you to make adjustments in your life, just as your roommate will make adjustments in their life for you. The living agreement will help you to discuss and agree upon some of the more important aspects of living together.
As you think about these topics, please be mindful of all university policies including: the Student Living Residential Policies, Housing Terms and Conditions, and Syracuse University’s Code of Student Conduct.
With this in mind, in this extraordinary time of a pandemic, we are responsible for ourselves and each other. We will work together. We will rise to the occasion. We will take the necessary steps to keep each other safe and we will not put ourselves or others at risk.
Did You Know – the majority of roommate conflicts result from lack of communication? The worst ways to address a problem are via: text message, email, and post-its or other notes. We highly encourage you to talk to one another!
You will work with your roommate(s) to have intentional conversations about how you want to live together. You will then complete a Living Agreement, which will be received by Student Living.Your RA will receive a copy of the completed Living Agreement and all roommates will receive a copy via email to their syr.edu account.
Should you have any questions about this process, please speak with your RA or Residence Director.
