In addition, Syracuse University is committed to promoting an environment that fosters respect for the dignity and rights of all its community members. As such, the University will not tolerate hazing activities by any individuals, groups, teams, or recognized student organizations. For more information regarding Syracuse University\u2019s Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities, call Community Standards at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:+13154433728\">315.443.3728<\/a>&nbsp;or the Office of the Senior Vice President for the Student Experience at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:+13154434357\">315.443.4357<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples of hazing include, but are not limited to:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Forced or coerced consumption of alcohol or other substances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sleep deprivation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Threats of harm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Actual physical harm (e.g., paddling, beating, branding).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Verbal abuse( e.g.name calling, yelling, screaming, berating).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participation in physical activities such as calisthenics or other exercises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Requiring new members to perform skits with degrading, crude or humiliating acts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performing any service or action under coercion or duress (e.g. running errands, cooking, cleaning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expecting certain items to always be in one\u2019s possession.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forcing new members to be deprived of maintaining their normal class study or schedule.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<p>\n  \n<a href=\"https:\/\/policies.syr.edu\/policies\/academic-rules-student-responsibilities-and-services\/syracuse-university-anti-hazing-policy\" class='button margin-bottom button-secondary' style=\"display: inline-block\"  >\n  \n  Syracuse University Anti-Hazing Policy\n      <span class=\"icon-right\">\n      <i class=\"icon-chevron-right\"><\/i>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/a>\n\n\n  <\/p>\n\n<hr>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hazing Prevention 101<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All Syracuse University Fraternity and Sorority members and students interested in membership MUST complete the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/students.syr.edu\/forms\/secure\/index.php?from=student-engagement&amp;form=1255388\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hazing Prevention 101 Online Module<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<hr>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reporting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To make a report of hazing, or to determine whether a proposed activity constitutes or will constitute hazing, the following resources are available via telephone:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Department of Public Safety at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:+13154432224\">315.443.2224<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greek Life at&nbsp;<a href=\"tel:3154432718\">315.443.2718<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community Standards at <a href=\"tel:3154433728\">315.443.3728<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anonymous reporting via 315.443.TIPS (8477)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<hr>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Online Reporting Forms<\/h2>\n\n\n<p>\n  \n<a href=\"https:\/\/cm.maxient.com\/reportingform.php?SyracuseUniv&amp;layout_id=19\" class='button margin-bottom button-secondary' style=\"display: inline-block\"  >\n  \n  Hazing Reporting Form\n      <span class=\"icon-right\">\n      <i class=\"icon-chevron-right\"><\/i>\n    <\/span>\n  <\/a>\n\n\n  <\/p>\n\n\n<p>Anonymous reports also can be made to the Department of Public Safety through the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.ethicspoint.com\/domain\/en\/report_company.asp?clientid=6432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ethics Point Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Syracuse University Anti-Hazing Policy Syracuse University is dedicated to promoting a safe and healthy campus environment for its students, faculty, staff and visitors.
