Arriving to Campus

Campus Arrival
Upon arrival, students are required to complete different check-in processes.
Domestic Commuter Students (First-year and Transfer)
- Parking: Any Orange parking lot [PDF] (if open), University Avenue Garage or Comstock Avenue Garage.
- Proceed to the Housing, Meal Plan, and I.D. Card Services office to pick up your Syracuse University I.D. Card.
- From there, begin attending Winter Welcome events.
North Campus Residential Students (First-year and Transfer)
- Students living in a residence hall on North Campus should proceed directly to their residence hall to move-in, receive Syracuse University I.D. Card and get settled. View a map of North Campus [PDF] today! International students should complete their check-in online after moving in.
- Parking: Any Orange parking lot [PDF] (if open), University Avenue Garage or Comstock Avenue Garage.
- After you get settled, begin attending Winter Welcome events.
South Campus Residential Students (First-year and Transfer)
- Students living in Skyhalls should proceed directly to their residence hall to begin their move-in process, receive their Syracuse University I.D. Card and get settled.
- Students living in a South Campus Apartment should proceed directly to Goldstein Student Center to begin their move-in process, receive their Syracuse University I.D. Card and get settled. View a Map of South Campus [PDF] today!
- Parking: Any open parking lot on South Campus.
- After you get settled, begin attending Winter Welcome events.
Car, Parking | Winter Welcome 2023
Campus is easily accessible by car and has many options for parking.
- Commuter students in need of a parking permit for the year may visit Parking and Transportation Services during business hours. Parking is available on campus through January 15, 2023 for commuter students to park and attend required Winter Welcome events.

Friday, Jan. 13, 2023
- 9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Students, families and supporters may park in any open lot, Comstock Ave. Garage and University Ave. Garage
- 4-9 p.m.: Students, families and supporters may park in any open lot: University North Lot, University South Lot and Harrison St. Lot.
Saturday, Jan. 14, 2023
- 10 a.m.-Noon.: For Winter Convocation and Winter Welcome Brunch, students, families and supporters may park in Irving Garage, Goldstein Student Center (on South Campus) and Comstock Ave. Garage. Shuttles are provided from Goldstein Student Center and Comstock Ave. Garage. Shuttles will also be provided from Setnor Auditorium to Goldstein Auditorium for the brunch. Families and supporters are encouraged to leave campus after the brunch.
- Noon-3 p.m.: Students needing to park on campus for their required academic meetings should use University Ave. Garage.
- 4-10 p.m.: Students attending the New Student Tailgate and/or the Basketball game may park in the University Ave. Garage.
Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023
- All day: Students needing to park on campus for the various Winter Welcome events are encouraged to park in University Ave. Garage, University North Ave. Lot, University Ave. South Lot or Harrison St. Lot.
Syracuse Hancock International Airport
- Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR) is about a 15-minute drive from campus.
- Outside the departure gates, taxis and ride sharing services are available.
Bus, Train
The William F. Walsh Regional Transportation Center (RTC) is served by Amtrak, Greyhound, Trailways and Megabus. The RTC is about a 10-minute drive from campus. Centro buses (city bus) run from the RTC to campus on a regular basis.
Residence Hall Directions
Please Note: Upon arrival, students are required to check-in. Without first checking in, students will be unable to move into their residence hall. Learn more on the On-Campus Living webpage.
Brewster, Boland and Brockway Halls (BBB)

- Exit Interstate 81 at Exit 18 (Adams Street).

- From East Adams Street, turn right at the second traffic light onto Irving Avenue.

- Take Irving Avenue to the end. Turn right onto Raynor Avenue (follow Brewster/Boland holding line signs).

- Turn right onto Henry Street.

- Take the next right into the holding line in the parking lot.
Day and Flint Halls (The Mount)

- Exit Interstate 481 at Exit 2 (Jamesville Road).

- Turn north onto Jamesville Road and left at the traffic light onto Nottingham Road.

- At the intersection of Nottingham Road and Waring Road, bear left and proceed to the first traffic light.

- At the traffic light, turn left onto East Colvin Street. Proceed down East Colvin Street to the third traffic light (Comstock Avenue).

- Turn right onto Comstock Avenue and take the first right turn into the Comstock Lot.

- The attendants in the parking lot will direct you to the correct holding line and instruct you when you can proceed up Mount Olympus Drive.
DellPlain Hall
-
- Exit Interstate 81 at Exit 18 (Adams Street).

- Drive straight up the hill until you come to a “T” intersection (Ostrom Avenue).

- Turn right onto Ostrom Avenue, continue two and one-half blocks and pull into the DellPlain holding line on Ostrom Avenue.
Haven Hall
-
- Exit Interstate 81 at Exit 18 (Adams Street).
-
- From East Adams Street, turn right onto University Avenue, left on Waverly Avenue, and then left on Comstock Avenue to the Haven Hall holding line.
Lawrinson Hall
-
- Exit Interstate 81 at Exit 18 (Adams Street).

- From East Adams Street, turn right at the second traffic light onto Irving Avenue.

- Turn right onto East Raynor Avenue, go two blocks and turn left onto Henry Street.

- Follow signs to the holding line in the Standart West parking lot.
Sadler Hall
-
- Exit Interstate 81 at Exit 18 (Adams Street).

- From East Adams Street, turn right at the second traffic light onto Irving Avenue.

- After the third traffic light, follow signs to the Sadler holding line.
-
- The holding line for Sadler will be at the corner of Irving Avenue and Raynor Avenue.

- Directions are subject to change based on campus construction in the area.
Shaw Hall
-
- Exit Interstate 481 at Exit 2 (Jamesville Road).

- Turn north onto Jamesville Road and left at the traffic light onto Nottingham Road.

- At the intersection of Nottingham Road and Waring Road, bear left and proceed to the first traffic light.

- At the traffic light, turn left onto East Colvin Street. Proceed down East Colvin Street to the third traffic light (Comstock Avenue).

- Turn right onto Comstock Avenue and take the first right turn into the Comstock Lot.
- The attendants in the parking lot will direct you to the correct holding line and instruct you when you can proceed to Shaw Hall.
Skyhalls and South Campus Apartments

- Exit Interstate 481 at Exit 2 (Jamesville Road).

- Turn north onto Jamesville Road and left at the traffic light onto Nottingham Road.

- At the intersection of Nottingham Road and Waring Road, bear left and proceed to the first traffic light.

- At the traffic light, turn left onto East Colvin Street.

- Proceed down East Colvin Street to the second traffic light and take a left onto Skytop Road.

- From there, Skyhall residents should take a left onto Lambreth Lane (just past the Goldstein Student Center) and proceed to Skyhall II for check-in.

- Apartment residents should proceed to the Goldstein Student Center for check-in.
Car, Parking | Syracuse Welcome 2023
Campus is easily accessible by car and has many options for parking. More details will be added in Summer 2023.

- Throughout Syracuse Welcome, please display your arrival pass on the dashboard of your car. You will receive this pass in your email (i.e. @syr.edu) prior to your travels.
- When you arrive to campus, you will see signage directing you to your residence hall. Follow the directions for your residence hall or south campus community. Use the Residence Hall Directions for more details.
- Once finished unloading your vehicle at the residence hall, the driver will be directed to park at a different location. A driver should remain with the vehicle at all times until finished unloading. Once parked, the driver may walk back to the residence hall or take a shuttle (depending on the building).
- Commuter students in need of a parking permit for the year may visit Parking and Transportation Services during business hours. Parking is available on campus through Aug. 27 for commuter students to park and attend required Syracuse Welcome events.
- After new student move-in, you may park in any open lot on campus through Noon on Aug. 25 (parents, families, supporters and guests) and Aug. 27 (commuter students).
