Butch Hallmark<\/h3>

Director, New Student and Transition Programs<\/p>

Butch Hallmark is the Director of New Student and Transition Programs. In this role, Butch creates and fosters collaborative relationships across campus to actualize effective and strategic efforts related to welcoming and supporting new students, provides oversight to New Student Programs, and direct departmental initiatives to ensure that Syracuse University is a campus welcoming to all first-year and transfer students, inclusive of Welcome Week, New Student Orientation, Spring New Student Orientation and more.\r\n\r\nButch earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in human environmental sciences at the University of Alabama, where he also served as Big Al \u2014 the university\u2019s mascot. He continued his education by receiving a master\u2019s degree in higher education administration at the University of Alabama.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Olivia Harrington, MSW<\/h3>

Assistant Director for Transition Programs, New Student Programs<\/p>

Olivia Harrington is the Assistant Director for Transition Programs in the New Student Programs office. In this role, Olivia supervises the Welcome Week student leaders, and her primary focus is on student transitions which include Pre-Welcome Programs, Welcome Week, and weekly Becoming Orange newsletters. She advises the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, oversees inclusive student mentorship programs, Day One Celebration, and first-year to second-year events. Olivia earned her B.A. in Human Development from SUNY Oswego and her Master of Social Work from the University at Buffalo. She is native to the CNY area, is a life-long SU basketball fan, and of course, loves the Buffalo Bills!<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Hyde Paez<\/h3>

Office Coordinator<\/p>

Hyde Paez is the Office Coordinator in the New Student Programs. In this role, Hyde serves as a main point of contact for students, family members and supporters who may have questions regarding new student orientation and the transition to Syracuse University. They also oversee budgeting related to New Student Orientation. Hyde, originally from Tampa, FL, graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Anthropology while attending Florida Atlantic University. In their free time, Hyde enjoys interacting with the community through sewing, as well as participating in performance arts.\u00a0<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Nick Stines<\/h3>

Assistant Director for New Student Orientation, New Student Programs<\/p>

Nick Stines is the assistant director for New Student Orientation in New Student Programs. In this role, Nick supervises the Orientation Leader (OL) team, plans and implements all first-year and transfer summer orientation programs, advises OrangeSeeds<\/a> and provides support to transfer and first-generation college students throughout the year. Nick earned a B.A. in exercise and sport science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a M.Ed. in college student affairs administration from the University of Georgia. While at UGA, Nick worked with Dawg Camp (an extended orientation program), a transition ambassador program and with the Peer Educator Conference in the Division of Academic Enhancement. He was also a NODA (Association for Orientation, Transition, and Retention in Higher Education) intern in the Office of New Student Orientation at the University of South Carolina. Nick's hometown is Dallas, North Carolina.
