Willingham is a long\u2011standing member of the Syracuse University community, having begun her career at the University in the fall of 2006. In her role as Assistant Director within the Office of Belonging and Student Success, Marissa supervises key mentoring and support programs, including the Dimensions Mentoring Program, the Barner\u2011McDuffie House, and Men Cultivating Impact (MCI). She provides leadership, training, and guidance to staff and graduate students who work directly with students, ensuring they are equipped to foster belonging, build meaningful relationships, and support students\u2019 academic and personal well\u2011being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marissa plays a central role in strengthening student retention and holistic success. She conducts proactive outreach, connects students with essential campus resources, and supports efforts that help students maintain balance and thrive both academically and socially. In addition to her mentoring and support work, Marissa plans and executes a variety of cultural, educational, and community\u2011building events throughout the year, including programs tied to celebratory months that highlight identity, culture, and student experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beyond her responsibilities at Syracuse University, Marissa serves on a few boards dedicated to youth development, generational impact, women\u2019s empowerment, and community engagement. Her service reflects her ongoing commitment to creating opportunities, fostering leadership, and uplifting the communities she is part of. Prior to joining the University, she worked with InterFaith Works of Central New York, facilitating dialogues on race and ethnicity and coordinating community\u2011wide initiatives that promoted equity and inclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marissa is also a devoted mother of three and remains deeply committed to uplifting her community and creating spaces where individuals feel seen, supported, and empowered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Marissa L.
