Additionally, research has shown the third-year experience is a pivotal point in an undergraduate student’s experience. During their third year, undergraduate students experience more demanding academic challenges, actively seek experience in areas of interest through internships, volunteering, summer jobs and/or research with professors, and change their physical relationship with campus as they often seek off-campus living options and study abroad programs. As such, Dimensions focuses on supporting and serving sophomores, juniors and seniors in a sisterhood community.

If you are interested in the program, please complete our online application form. Applications for the 2026-27 academic year are due Monday, Sept. 14. Each member of the selected cohort should have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 and be in good standing with Community Standards.

Once accepted as a Dimensions mentor, a mandatory retreat is required as part of training. The training will take place before classes start in mid-August and involves an in-depth analysis of mentors’ lifestyles, specifically via exercises that push mentors to critically reflect upon their lives, culture and understanding of people and themselves. Additionally, various training exercises and modules are used to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a mentor to those around you.

If you have any questions, please contact Belonging and Student Success at belonging@syr.edu.

            History (Her Story)

The Dimensions Mentoring Program was created in 2002 in the Office of Multicultural Affairs.
