Here are some things you can help with.<\/p>\n\n\n<div role=\"region\" class=\"accordion\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Help them with time management now.            <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>You don\u2019t want to do daily wake-up calls, and they will need to<br \/>\nunderstand how to best schedule their time outside of classes. Remind them to allocate time for meals, sleep, hygiene, studying, exercise, and fun in their weekly plan. Without someone to remind them, it\u2019s easy to lose track of time when they have such freedom.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Teach them self-care and coping skills.             <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>There will be good and not-so good days. Managing stress through healthy habits like adequate sleep, nutritious eating and regular exercise can have a significant impact. Taking breaks and spending time with others is also important. Ensure they know where to find resources for help, whether it\u2019s a tutor or mental health counseling.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/bewell\">Barnes Center at the Arch<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/bewell\/well-being\/together-we-thrive\/\">Together we THRIVE<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/bewell\/mental-health\/\">Barnes Center at the Arch Mental Health Resources<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/class.syr.edu\/\">Center for Learning and Student Support (CLASS)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Remind them that Syracuse University offers various health and wellness resources.            <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>Remind them that Syracuse University offers various <a href=\"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/bewell\">health and wellness resources, including mental health counseling, health care and access to fitness centers and recreation programs<\/a>. They will need to make appointments on their own. If they haven\u2019t done this before, encourage them to start scheduling appointments as soon as possible.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Encourage them to introduce themselves to faculty members.            <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>Encourage them to introduce themselves to faculty members, utilize office hours, and seek academic help as soon as they realize they may need it. The sooner they reach out, the better the result.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Discuss some of the privileges you may hold that others may not.            <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>How do these privileges shape your perspective and interactions with others? Encourage them to develop their own ideas and opinions and be willing and able to discuss them with other people&#8211;some of whom will have very different ideas and opinions.<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Discuss how you will communicate once they are at college.             <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>Some students talk with (or text with) their family daily, but some don\u2019t. How will you manage the distance and the frequency of communication?<\/p>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n      <div class=\"accordion-item border border-gray-light\">\n      <div class=\"accordion-header-text\">\n        <h3 class=\"margin-bottom-0\">\n          <button class=\"accordion-header full-width background-gray-light-30 border-0 margin-0 padding-top-2 padding-bottom-2 padding-left-3 padding-right-3\" aria-expanded=\"false\">\n            Talk with them about their current and future use (or not) of alcohol and other drugs.             <div class='accordion-toggle icon-right' class=''>\n              <i class='icon-chevron-right'><\/i>\n            <\/div>\n          <\/button>\n        <\/h3>\n      <\/div>\n      <div class='accordion-content'>\n        <p>Making smart and safe choices about alcohol and drug use can impact many areas of their life.
