{"id":122,"date":"2020-12-08T15:14:00","date_gmt":"2020-12-08T15:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ese-tst.syr.edu\/studentconduct\/?page_id=122"},"modified":"2024-11-08T15:27:50","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T15:27:50","slug":"student-bill-of-rights","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/sexual-relationship-violence\/student-bill-of-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Bill of Rights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For Cases Involving Sexual or Relationship Violence or Harassment:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Under New York&#8217;s Enough is Enough sexual misconduct prevention law, all student complainants and respondents in cases involving sexual harassment or assault have the right to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Make a report to local law enforcement and\/or state police;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Have disclosures of Dating or Domestic Violence, Stalking, Sexual Assault and other forms of Sexual Harassment treated seriously;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make a decision about whether or not to disclose a crime or violation and participate in the judicial or conduct process and\/or criminal justice process free from pressure by the institution;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in a process that is fair, impartial, and provides adequate notice and a meaningful opportunity to be heard;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be treated with dignity and to receive from the institution courteous, fair, and respectful health care and counseling services, where available;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be free from any suggestion that the reporting individual is at fault when these crimes and violations are committed, or should have acted in a different manner to avoid such crimes or violations;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Describe the incident to as few institution representatives as practicable and not be required to unnecessarily repeat a description of the incident;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be protected from retaliation by the institution, any student, the Complainant and\/or the Respondent, and\/or their friends, family, and acquaintances within the jurisdiction of the institution;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to at least one level of appeal of a determination;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be accompanied by an advisor of choice who may assist and advise a reporting individual, accused, or respondent throughout the judicial or conduct process including during all meetings and hearings related to such process; and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exercise civil rights and practice of religion without interference by the investigative, criminal justice, or judicial or conduct process of the institution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For Cases Involving Sexual or Relationship Violence or Harassment: Under New York&#8217;s Enough is Enough sexual misconduct prevention law, all student complainants and respondents in cases involving sexual harassment or assault have the right to:<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":258,"featured_media":0,"parent":116,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","template":"","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"class_list":["post-122","page","type-page","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/122","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/258"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=122"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/122\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1716,"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/122\/revisions\/1716"}],"up":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/116"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/experience.syracuse.edu\/community-standards\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=122"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
