IC CAE is a congressionally mandated program established in 2005 to increase the pool of culturally and ethnically diverse, multidisciplinary job applicants for the intelligence community. The program provides grants to competitively selected accredited U.S. four-year colleges and universities to support the design and development of intelligence-related curricula.

Any Syracuse University or consortium partner undergraduate or graduate student in any college, department or program can apply to the Syracuse University IC CAE.

To become an IC CAE member, students must complete an online application and meet with IC CAE advisors. Program requirements include completion of one core course and two or more electives in specific subject areas, and participation in two IC CAE events and trainings each semester. IC CAE program members receive specialized education and experiences that increase their marketability for the U.S. Intelligence Community. Program members are also eligible to receive stipends to attend intelligence community-related workshops, colloquia, conferences and summer seminars and to engage collaboratively with other IC CAE program affiliates from around the country.

IC CAE program members also have opportunities for internships and co-op programs within the intelligence community. High-performing IC CAE program members are eligible for induction into the voluntary IC CAE Distinguished Student Program, which provides access to select intelligence community programs, conferences and other exclusive opportunities.

Yes. Schools may invite recruiters to attend events on campus, or students may participate in conferences and seminars at which recruitment events are held.

IC CAE schools receive funding in support of curriculum development, faculty professional development, faculty research, student study abroad and colloquia. The funds also support student programs and student participation in intelligence-related conferences and seminars and provide for the delivery of on-site intelligence-related workshops, simulations and practical exercises.

IC CAE faculty are afforded opportunities to participate in IC CAE program conferences and professional development initiatives and to expand their academic research and professional network through interaction with IC CAE faculty from around the country.
