Supporting student mental health is a campus community responsibility. The Syracuse University Kognito partnership implements strategies to improve holistic well-being of students through increased education within the lenses of mental health, suicide prevention, substance use and empathic communication.

  • It’s important that the campus community work together to create a strong safety net. Especially as students at the highest risk are often not seeking counseling.
  • Enhances confidence and skills surrounding supporting students with mental health concerns through highly interactive and easy to understand trainings.

Kognito Web-based Instructions

All Syracuse University faculty, staff and students may access for free.

Please note, there are two separate trainings specifically for students and another for faculty/staff audiences. If you are a faculty or staff member that is also taking classes, please select “Employee.”

  1. Log into the Kognito Portal with your Syracuse University NetID and password.
  2. Under “User Type,” select either “Student” or “Employee.”
  3. Complete the prompts and select “Submit” to move forward.
  4. From the Course webpage, select “Launch.”

The Kognito course will take 50 minutes to complete. Completing the course may be done in multiple sittings. The following actions are required to earn a Kognito completion certificate.

  3. Post-Survey

  1. Log into the Kognito Portal with your Syracuse University NetID and password.
  2. From the Courses webpage, select “Certificate.”

  3. From the course, hover over the bottom of the video window.
  4. In the right bottom corner, select the hamburger menu that appears and select desired settings.
