Keith Brown, LCSW-R

Title: Staff Therapist

Therapeutic Style: My approach to counseling is to create a comfortable and safe environment that allows students to explore their mental health concerns. I have a flexible therapeutic style that is designed to meet the needs of students; it can range from skill-based therapy, to open exploration of life experiences. Throughout my career, I have helped people dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss, self-worth, attention and feelings of being overwhelmed. I am always open to feedback, as I strive for a collaborative relationship with students and view everyone as a unique person with their own story to tell.

Professional Interests: I am interested in the connection between mental health and how the body expenses trauma and stress. Gaining new skills to help people find ways to heal their minds through body awareness.

Professional Experience: I have worked in the Syracuse community with both children and adults. In the past, I have provided care to individuals who experience sexual violence, child abuse and neglect as well as a family struggling with addiction.

Educational Background: I received my master’s degree in social work (M.S.W.) from State University of New York (SUNY) Binghamton (also taking master-level classes at Syracuse University and Marywood University) and a bachelor’s degree in social work from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
